Repeat Prescriptions
If you need any medicine regularly, you will get a repeat prescription form, on the right hand side of the prescription. We generally issue prescriptions for regular medicines for three months at a time. It helps if you can order items together. Please allow 48 hours for a repeat prescription.
Please bring or send the form to us, indicating what you need. Postal requests need an S. A. E. for posting back. We cannot take prescription requests over the telephone, but you can ring your local chemist who can get your medicines ready.
You can order repeat prescriptions online with EMIS Access. You need to register at reception for this service which links directly to our clinical computer system. You will be given a username and PIN to use, then follow the links on this website.

Test Results
If you have a test ordered or performed by the surgery, you will be told how you are to get the results. The doctor or nurse may ask you to make an appointment when the results should be back.
You may be asked to ring up for the results when they have been checked by the doctor or nurse. It is best to ring when the telephone is quieter between 2:00 and 3:00 pm. The receptionists will then be able to give you the message about your results.
If everything is normal there may be no further action needed. If you need to speak to the doctor or nurse you will be put through or given a suitable time to ring back to talk to the right person. If the result is abnormal and further action is needed, your doctor may ring and tell you, email or write to you.
In the end it is in your interest to make sure you find out about your test results. It is our responsibility to make sure abnormal results are followed up.

Referrals
NHS referrals You may need a referral to another clinic or hospital for further care having consulted one our doctors. We can offer a wide choice in most cases, but sometimes the NHS restricts your care to certain local providers. This is true of physiotherapy and mental health services.
We use the Choose and Book system for most NHS referrals. This allows us to look at and choose from many suitable services and either book an appointment for you during your consultation, or give you a list of clinics to choose from at your leisure. You can then ring the booking numbers on your printout to make your appointment, at a time convenient to you, or go online book.
Choose and Book website >
Some referrals have to be sent off by letter or fax and then you wait to be called in for an appointment. Examples of this type of referral are for St Thomas' maternity, hospital tests and some "2 week rule" referrals for possible cancer.
Private referrals We can refer you to private practitioners and hospitals if you wish. We provide a referral letter, often by email, so that you can make your own appointment. We charge for filling in the forms that the medical insurance companies may require as this is not NHS work.
